Inviting the 501st Connecticut Garrison to your events!
The 501st Connecticut Garrison is part of the 501st Legion, which is an International Star Wars costuming fan club. With over 4000 members in 42 countries we loves to spread the magic of the Star Wars universe by portraying the Imperial characters spanning all six episodes. If you have a need for the "Bad Guys Who Do Good", you are in the right place.
Q: What type of events does the 501st CTG do?
A: The CTG has made appearances in many parades from the New Haven St. Patrick‘s Day Parade to the Barnum Festival Parade. We have attended many sci-fi conventions and sporting events such as the CT Defenders base ball games. We have done promotional work for Lucasfilm Ltd. and there partners such as Hasbro, Pepsi and Toys-R-Us. We participate in Free Comic Book Day every year and we do many charity events throughout the year such as ACS Relay for Life, Easter Seals Walk With Me, Ability Beyond Disability picnics and visiting children in the hospital. Please note that we do NOT attend children‘s birthday parties, but we have been known to make exceptions in extreme situations such as a terminally ill child.
Q: How much do we charge for our appearances?
A: We do not charge for appearances. We do this to promote our love of the Star Wars films and to share that experience with others. That doesn‘t mean we will do an even t for free. We do ask that the event host make a donation to one of our favorite children’s charities. The amount should be agreed upon in advance of the event. The 501st prides itself on the many charity events it does and the large amounts of money we help raise for those charities such as The Hartford Children‘s Medical Center, The Tommy Fund, Easter Seals, the American Cancer Society, Children‘s Miracle Network, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to name just a few.
Q: How do I go about inviting the 501st Connecticut Garrison to my event?
A: If you have any further questions about the 501st Connecticut Garrison please contact Public Relations here. Or you can send a request for an event to either our CO ID-3302 or our XO TI-3970 From there we will inquire within the group to gauge interest. This may take several days, also please remember the more advance notice we receive the more likely we will be able to accommodate your request. If there is a sufficient amount of interest, a member of our Team will then take up planning of the event and become the point-of-contact, whom will coordinate the event between you and our members.
Q: Is there anything else I should know?
A: The wearing of the costumes can be exhausting, so we usually ask that water be provided and if at all possible, a small secure room to change in and to store our personal belongings. We have never been known to turn down a grateful Thank You or the occasional Pizza! Depending on the type of event, we may choose to forgo the amenities if the cause is worthwhile and they simply cannot be provided.
If you have any further questions about the 501st Connecticut Garrison please contact us.
Thank you for your interest and we look forward to "Trooping" at your event.
